Khalsa Diwan Society, Abbotsford

This section takes a look at the development, growth, and great contributions of the Khalsa Diwan Society. As the very first, and oldest surviving religious society in North America, the Khalsa Diwan Society has played a pivotal role in providing migrants in the early 20th century support and the feeling of community. Subsections such as Gur Sikh Temple and National Heritage Site discuss in detail, the historical development of one of the first Sikh Gurdwaras in North America, and the joyous occasion as it was installed as a National Historic Site of Canada. This section also provides the viewer with a contemporary look into the Society and who its current members are. And finally, this section looks into the future, with the hope to meet certain achievements in celebration of the 2011 Centennial of the Gur Sikh Temple in British Columbia.
